  • 9/2/2020 I just scored green chile at my HT in Clayton (Flowers). There was a small display of it. I told the veg manager I would need about 10 lbs and asked if there was a roasting event. He had no idea what I was talking about and brought a box out that was about half full. It was “Melissa’s” and mild. I picked through and bought 6 lbs. The mild will be fine as I will cut it with last year’s stash I got from home that about melted my face off!!
I recommend to just get in the car and hit every HT until you find some and then ask what they have in the back. The box I went through had some that were getting a couple of spots. I don’t think they know they have “GOLD” on those vines, get them out of the wet freezr box! Happy hunting until next season!! Now it’s fall, y’all!!

  • Just bought some fresh hatch green chile at the Fresh Market on Merrimon in Asheville. Have to roast it yourself.

  • Roasting TODAY and TOMORROW in Durham! I was just at the Harris Teeter on Hillsborough Rd near Ninth St (be careful, there is a second location on Hillsborough that did not appear to be roasting) and they were selling freshly roasted Hatch chiles today– and they said they would be there tomorrow as well, 8/29-8/30.

  • Right now (9/13/2019) all NC Publix stores have 18 oz bags of fresh Hatch Chiles for $3.99. I checked several stored in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, which all had them. Limited time only.

  • Publix currently (9/12/2019) has fresh Hatch chiles, sold in 18oz bags for $3.99. This is a seasonal order, so limited supply. I checked stores in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh area, which all had them.

  • Woo-hoo. The fresh market in chapel hill will roast the chili. They have hot and mild in right now but you need to call ahead to get it roasted.

    • Where are you located? I’m going to Charolette this weekend or next for some. Let me know if you want and I can pick yours up too. 7193041974

  • Harris Teeter always has a roast every year but they were cancelled at the two Raleigh locations. Charlotte is the only place offering this in 2019…

    • I just found out that the entire Triangle will be skipped by HT this year. Which sucks. The closest to Raleigh is Fayetteville and they are roasting in Charlotte THREE times. Which also sucks.

  • Harris Teeter Grocery stores in NC VA SC are having Hatch Chile roasting events starting Aug 2019. They have fresh Hatch Chiles at all locations while they are in season but only roasting event at certain locations. Check their Facebook page. Also the produce manager at any Harris Teeter will order you as many as you want $1.29 per pound. I’m just a fan and don’t work for them so call them or check Facebook.

  • Fresh Market and Harris teeter in Fayetteville. Fresh Market does roast them when in season. Also I did find some frozen ones at Trader Joe’s in Cary, I believe they carry that all year.

  • Just discovered this site and see that you will be about 5 miles from me on Saturday. Roasters too, this is like hitting the lottery Harris Teeter, I will see you on Saturday.

Off to buy a lottery ticket now, this could be a sign (fingers crossed)

  • My husband goes every year to a Harris Teeter in NC to pick up boxes of already roasted green chili’s do you know when and where the next 2018 event will be thanks!

  • Harris Teeter has been carrying it these last few years and last year they had a traveling roaster who went from town to town so you could get your boxes roasted! The flagship in Wilmington on Oleander had this last year, you might want to call and talk to the produce dept, they might have an idea when/where this is happening in NC this year.

  • I lived in Wyoming always had hatch chili moved to NC i can not find any hatch chili I miss having it around.
